About
Van Ermel Scherer (VES) is a distinguished Aboriginal luxury swim and resortwear house crafting exclusive limited edition collections that embody coastal elegance, cultural strength, and timeless allure. Based in Coledale on Dharawal Country, the brand speaks to women who seek more than style alone, women who value individuality, masterful craftsmanship, and design with purpose and soul.
Founded by proud Larrakia woman Verity, VES is a living tribute to the enduring legacy of her late grandmother, Valerie van Ermel Scherer (Mattie Frith). A courageous survivor of the Stolen Generations, Valerie spent much of her life on Gadigal Country, where she expressed her resilience and creativity through designing vibrant kaftans in bespoke fabrics and striking colour. Her creations were more than garments. They were expressions of dignity, beauty, and quiet strength. Today, that powerful spirit lives on through VES, reimagined through modern luxury.
Each collection is created with intention, care, and uncompromising attention to detail. Premium fabrics are selected for their drape, elegance, and comfort. Exclusive prints are released in strictly limited editions. Every silhouette is meticulously crafted to move effortlessly with the body and flatter with grace. Designed to transition seamlessly from sunlit days to refined evenings, VES pieces become lasting wardrobe statements rather than fleeting trends. The signature silk crepe kaftans remain the heart of the house, timeless icons of contemporary elegance and enduring heritage.
For the woman who desires beauty with depth, meaning, and distinction, van Ermel Scherer offers more than fashion. It offers a story of resilience, legacy, and feminine power, woven into every detail and carried forward with purpose into the future.

Always was, always will be
